“What is a Disability,” presented by NCHPAD with our friends at the UAB School of Health Professions and the Lakeshore Foundation, takes an in-depth look at how disability impacts identity, culture and lived experience.
Panelists and disability leaders Dr. Anjali Forber-Pratt, the late Judy Heumann and Keith Jones share their insight and expertise on how we can individually and collectively promote disability as a positive and common part of the human experience.
“Some of why we need this research is to help to further educate those nondisabled providers and systems and individuals that we have to interact with in order to get our durable medical equipment, in order to advocate for access to XYZ service or to get the appropriate home and community-based services that we might need,” said Dr. Forber-Pratt.
