Quick Navigation

Focus mode

Regular Physical Activity in childhood and adolescence is important for promoting lifelong health and well-being and preventing a variety of health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, depression and anxiety and many others. Remember, all students will ultimately become adults and it is for that reason physical activity and physical education is so important. It is our responsibility as educators to contribute to a physically educated individual.

Use this small toolkit to promote inclusion in physical education classrooms and to share NCHPAD’s video How Inclusive Physical Education in School Benefits All Students, which provides tips and insights to boosting inclusion and participation in PE.

Tips & Best Practices for Social Media

Here are some accessibility best practices to keep in mind when sharing on social media:

  • Hashtag Power: Make hashtags readable by using camel case (e.g., #SocialMediaWins). This helps screen readers announce them clearly.
  • Limit Emojis: Emojis can be fun, but use them sparingly and place them at the end of sentences. Avoid relying on them to convey meaning.
  • Add Image Descriptions: Describe all images using clear and concise alt text. Briefly explain the image content and its connection to the post.
  • Use Captions: Add captions to videos and live streams. Consider offering downloadable transcripts for longer videos.
  • Color Contrast: Ensure good color contrast between text and background for better readability.
