PURPOSE
The City of Savannah employs approximately 2,500 people in 45 diverse departments and is committed to fostering a healthy workforce through our industry-leading wellness program. The Employee Health & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for administering employee health services programs, including health education and training, prevention, and awareness of health issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Administers the city's Wellness Program; coordinates health screenings; schedules and conducts health education classes; coordinates the employee fitness program; maintains database of program participants; tracks program budgets; organizes vaccination clinics.
- Provides case management services to employees with serious health issues affecting the ability to perform job duties; coordinates needs assessments, the return to work process, or disability benefits.
- Evaluates employee health data to develop new health and wellness initiatives.
- Provides general customer service to city employees in regards to wellness programs and employee benefits.
- Oversees and conducts pre-employment physicals and drug screenings; negotiates contracts with service providers.
- Prepares various reports, newsletter articles, brochures, and flyers related to employee health issues and city benefits.
- Maintains medical files. Manages special projects as assigned.
- Counsels management and employees on federal laws regarding health and privacy such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and HIPAA.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate must have a passion for promoting health and wellness initiatives to employees, as well as three or more years of experience in health education and/or employee wellness programming.
Bachelors degree in Health/Physical Education, Health Promotion/Behavior, or related field required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, and post-offer/pre-employment medical screen required.
