The Institute on Disabilities is searching for a qualified candidate who can serve as Augmentative Communication Coordinator. The successful candidate will participate in a variety of augmentative communication-related activities including:
- Evaluation and follow-up intervention and consultation with potential candidates for, and participants in, the Augmentative Communication Empowerment Supports (ACES) program.
- Coordination of summer ACES program and provision of follow-up supports to participants.
- Assessment and staff training regarding augmentative communication for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Child & family-centered technical assistance for early intervention providers regarding the use of Assistive Technology with young children with disabilities 0-2 and 3-5.
- Training to community groups, university classes, and others regarding the nature and scope of augmentative communication.
- AAC-related technical assistance to community providers and families.
- Potential of fee-for-service assessment and intervention with diverse individuals with complex communication needs.
