Access Living of Metropolitan Chicago, a Center for Independent Living, is looking for a full-time Manager - Community Supports. The Manager will be responsible for introducing minimally 100 individuals with disabilities to personal empowerment. Specific duties include:
Ensures all grant deliverables for team are met.
Ensures direct reports meet job requirements, appropriately handles all disciplinary problems and issues of under performance.
Ensures that an annual job performance appraisal is conducted for each supervised staff on a timely basis.
Responsible for the development and implementation of outcome based management tools.
Monitors actual spending to ensure costs are within budget.
Qualified candidates for this position should have a majority of the following qualifications:
Experience (personal or professional) working with people with disabilities (as peers);
Analytical, problem solving, networking, and knowledge of skill-building techniques;
Strong written and oral communication skills as to connect with a wide range of individuals and organizations;
An understanding of equal opportunity within a social justice framework;
Knowledge of disability civil rights laws (ADA, Section 504, and IDEA), and familiarity with the disability rights movement and/or independent living movement is preferred, but not required.
